#The Story Behind the Rebrand

If you have been following my build-in-public logbooks, you will know this project was originally developed under the working title Transcendence.

Just hours before Apple granted our final App Store approval, I was contacted by legal representatives of the Maharishi Foundation regarding registered trademarks for Transcendental Meditation® and TM®. Rather than entangling a fresh project in prolonged legal disputes, I decided the most sensible path forward was to launch under a brand-new identity: Mantra Meditation Timer.

Crucially, not a single line of feature code or privacy architecture was altered. The app offers the exact same calm, distraction-free experience we refined during beta testing—just with a new name and icon on your home screen.

Most modern meditation apps are designed to lock users into endless monthly rentals, flood sessions with guided audio noise, or harvest personal usage data. Mantra was engineered on the exact opposite principles:

Shipping this app feels surreal, but it is just the start for Code and Sea. Over the coming weeks, my focus shifts to supporting our early users with prompt updates and opening private beta signups for my second tool, Tidal Draft.
